Most Field’s End classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis, so apply early. Field’s End accepts applications until a class is filled. Once a class fills, Field’s End will maintain a waiting list.

Workshop classes do not fill on a first-come basis. Instead, the sole criterion for admission is the quality of a writing sample each applicant must submit by a specified deadline.

Field’s End will promptly notify applicants who get into a class and send refunds to those who don’t.

Unless otherwise noted, all classes meet in the main conference room of the Bainbridge Public Library. For directions, click here.

  Registration

Field’s End will begin processing registrations for Fall 2008 classes on August 19.

To register for Field’s End classes, you’ll need:

  • A completed registration form (one form per class, please).
  • Pick up a copy at the Bainbridge Public Library or any Kitsap Regional Library branch. Otherwise, click here to download a blank form (Word document) that you can print.
  • Your check or money order made out to Field’s End (one check per class, please). If you do not get into a class, Field’s End will notify you and refund all class fees.
  • Writing samples, if required.

Registration questions? Please contact the Field’s End registrar at: registrar@fieldsend.org.

  Tuition Assistance

Field’s End has established the Jack Olsen Writers’ Assistance Fund to honor the late Bainbridge Island author. The fund is designed to assist writers who need financial help.

If you cannot afford the full tuition, this fund might cover part of your cost. Submit your request for tuition assistance as early as possible because classes (except workshops) fill on a first-come basis.

To apply, follow the directions on the registration form. Field’s End will review your request, notify you of a decision as soon as possible, and return your deposit if the class has already filled or if you decline the offered assistance.

You can receive one tuition assistance grant per academic year (September - August). If you receive tuition assistance, Field’s End might ask you to help with classroom support.

  Refunds

Field’s End will refund your tuition if Field’s End cancels a class or if you apply for but are not accepted into a class.

If you are accepted into a class and later decide to cancel, Field’s End will refund your tuition, but only if Field’s End can fill your place from the class waiting list.

  The Unexpected

Bad weather or unusual circumstances might force Field’s End to cancel a session. If so, Field’s End will try to e-mail all registrants at least two hours before the scheduled class time, as well as telephone those participants who do not live on Bainbridge Island.

When class resumes, the instructor will schedule a make-up session.
